Pumpkin Pizza Calzones
Course: RecipesIngredients
Dough – you can use our pizza dough (from the Sicilian Pizza recipe) or even just grab some frozen dough
Red sauce
Cheese
Toppings (pepperoni, olives, peppers, etc)
Directions
- Take a piece of dough just bigger than a golf ball and roll out flat. Add about 1-2 Tbs of sauce, cheese, and desired toppings.
- Gather dough around the filling and pinch openings together to seal completely (can also gather ends and tie off using kitchen twine and cut off excess dough).
- Using about 2 ft kitchen twine wrap the calzone to create about 8 equal sections. Place the calzone seam side down on an oiled pan.
- Repeat the process leaving about 3-4 inches between each calzone. Brush each pumpkin with a beaten egg. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
- Allow to cool until calzones can be handled. Remove twine and place a basil leaf and a small chunk of cheese on top.
